THE GREAT WINTER

This show will be a large scale spectacle show set within an atmospheric snowy landscape. We are in discussions about an opening at one of London’s most prestigious venues for Christmas 2021, with a global tour following that.

Staging THE GREAT WINTER

This early stage development for a major new Sisters Grimm production, is rooted in Nordic folklore, told through song and dance, with a compelling narrative written by award winning writer James Phillips and in partnership with Extreme, weaving the athleticism of winter sports into the production.

THE GREAT WINTER Sound

MUSIC: COMPOSED BY ELLA SPIRA & NAOMI HAMMERTON

WRITER: JAMES PHILLIPS

LYRICS:

Here I stand
Back where I started from
My Fathers land
Heavy with frost and snow
What survives
The cruelness of winters call
So long and low

Yet the rings on the trees tell stories
Of past and of future glories
Destined to be

Oh I know that my fates before me
Fighting her way to Glory
At her mercy
Bringing me back, bringing me
home

She leads the way now
She leads the way
I won’t forget
I won’t forget
Even Winter must pass

Designing THE GREAT WINTER

“…And after many days I start to hear distant music. Music from a thousand years ago. From when men went out onto the ice cold sea in ships with dragon prows, when they sang of the glory of spears and of shield maidens, songs from the time of the Great Winter.”

Set within an atmospheric snowy landscape rooted in Nordic folklore, the show will be designed by David Farley.
