SAKURA | A Celebration of Japanese Culture

One of our major international shows that will tour worldwide, is a Japanese themed production ‘SAKURA’ (working title). This concept was established by taking the core team from our Grammy nominated INALA, a Zulu Ballet out to Japan to collaborate with incredibly talented artists, dancers, singers and traditional instrumentalists on the ground and experience the magical transition of the Sakura blossom.

Staging SAKURA

CHOREOGRAPHY: MARK BALDWIN OBE

As a team with mixed heritage backgrounds, we are devoted to immersing ourselves in cultures we have a passion and immense respect for, giving a voice to them that comes directly from contemporary artists and is led by our interpretation of the history, traditions, art forms and disciplines of that territory.

SAKURA SOUNDTRACK

MUSIC: COMPOSED BY ELLA SPIRA & NAOMI HAMMERTON

This new show will be a celebration of Japanese culture today. We’ve immersed ourselves completely in the Japanese culture and have been collaborating with some of Japan’s national treasures and new contemporary performers.

Lighting SAKURA

In line with the Olympics being held in Japan in 2020, SAKURA meaning ‘blossom’ in Japanese, explores the idea of transition, transformation and reinvention. The show will be performed with a live choir, Taiko drummers and multidisciplinary performers from Japan.
